Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Shopify applications in the Open Pilots collection (each, a "pilot"; together, "the Service") provided by Open Pilots ("we", "us", or "our"). By installing or using any pilot, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.
1. Description of service
The Open Pilots collection is a growing set of Shopify applications. Each pilot performs a specific function on your store — for example, a storefront utility, a conversion helper, or an inventory tool. The full list of pilots and what each one does is published on our website and on the Shopify App Store.
2. Eligibility and account
To use any pilot, you must have a valid Shopify store and a Shopify account in good standing. You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to bind your business to these Terms. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Forever Free
The Open Pilots collection is, and is intended to remain, Forever Free for merchants. We do not charge subscription fees, usage fees, or per-feature fees for any pilot. There is no billing system, no plan tiers, and no credit card requirement to install or use a pilot.
If we ever introduce a paid offering, it will be a separate product with its own clearly disclosed terms — the pilots in this collection will remain free.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use any pilot to operate, promote, or manage content that violates any applicable law or third-party rights
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract any part of the Service
- Use automated tools to abuse, overload, or disrupt the Service
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to any pilot without our written consent
- Use the Service in any way that violates Shopify's Partner Program policies or App Store requirements
5. Service availability
We aim to keep every pilot in the collection running reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Pilots may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. Because the Service is provided free of charge, we make no service-level commitments regarding uptime or response time.
6. Intellectual property
The Open Pilots collection and all associated intellectual property — including each pilot's source code, branding, and design — remain our sole property. Your use of any pilot does not grant you ownership rights in our software.
Configuration, settings, and content you create through a pilot's admin UI remain yours. We do not claim any ownership over your store data.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that any pilot will be error-free, secure against every threat, or fit for any particular purpose. You install and use each pilot at your own discretion.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Open Pilots shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of revenue, profits, data, or goodwill. Because the Service is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed USD 100.
9. Termination
You may uninstall any pilot from your Shopify admin at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to a pilot if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harming Shopify, other merchants, or us. Upon uninstallation, your data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. For material changes, we will notify you through the Shopify app interface of any installed pilot. Continued use of a pilot after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
